Inside Joke, Zach Galifianakis at UCB

The other night I saw Zach Galifianakis interviewed at the UCB by the worst interviewer of all time. BUT Zach did not disappoint. He was utterly hilarious with very little effort as I hoped and dreamed he'd be. The set up was ala Inside the Actor's studio replacing creepy, deadpan James Lipton with some other uncomfortably awkward, and unfunny nerd asking pointless questions that Zach was clearly as frustrated with by the end as we were, but as I said he pulled through and saved this naive host from further embarrassment by filling all lulls and answering his useless questions i.e. "what was it like working with Jason Priestly? Do you have any good stories?" What?! NO! Who CARES! We Want to know about Zach and all his of his other hilarious comic friends! Jason Priestly rests with 90210, the two should never be mentioned in the same sentence ever.

ANYWAY, the highlights of the show began with a notably corny but perfect opener where Zach offers the host a beer, hands him a regular sized Budweiser from his backpack and then gives himself a 40 oz one. Everyone cracked up and he mentioned how he thought of that joke on the way over and searched every deli he could find for an even tinier nip sized beer to give the host but Chelsea was not delivering that night. We continued on to learn about his life and projects, how he was offered $700k to become the new face of Time Warner Cable (random?) and he turned it down in order to not sell out (smart and stupid at the same time, it was only 11 days of working!). But from listening to him further it seems he doesn't need the money so much as he's being offered projects constantly and usually will do them based on the terms that no one tells him what to do. Who knew he was so in demand? Like this Kanye West video that he was asked to do after Kanye saw other videos he did for Fiona Apple for example.

But the best part of the show by far were the two advertisements that Absolut Vodka asked him to do for them. Zach commissioned beloved Tim and Eric to produce with him. There were two commercials shown but only one has resurfaced on the internet so far. Absolut told Zach he could do whatever he wanted as long as he stayed away from three things:
1. The 80's, apparently Absolut has a stigma for being the choice drink for women in the 80's
2. Homo erotica
3. Drunken outbursts

You know as well as me, giving these rules was their first mistake. I give you, hilarity.

Also Jeanine Garofalo was there randomly. She passed out rice krispy treats to the crowd. She looked really, REALLY thin and young. So much so I didn't believe it was her at first. She kept joking about being really depressed and wanting to kill herself, but I think there might be a shred of truth to that joke :( sad face.
